St Moritz winter season 2026-27:
event dates and key weeks

The St Moritz winter season 2026-27 is organised around a calendar that, as of September, already has almost all of its major events dated by their organisers. For anyone travelling from Madrid, that calendar decides everything else: the arrival date, the time at which the aircraft can land and what is best settled before departure.

What follows includes only dates published in an official source, either the organiser's or that of the Engadin St. Moritz tourist office, and states clearly what is confirmed, what may change and what has not yet been published. Where a date is not on record, we do not give one. This page will be reviewed every season.

1. How to read the St Moritz winter: four windows in the calendar

The ski season sets the outer limits. According to the Engadin St. Moritz tourist office, most of the Corviglia lifts operate from 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, and the link to Piz Nair runs from 19 December. Elsewhere in the area, Corvatsch is open from 21 November 2026 to 25 April 2027 and Diavolezza from 19 December 2026 to 2 May 2027. The tourist office's planning document ties the close of the Corviglia season to Easter, and in 2027 Easter Sunday falls on 28 March.

Between those limits, the events with an official date fall into four windows:

• Second half of December: the Cresta Run track opens (17 December), followed by the Piz Nair link (19 December) and the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz–Celerina (22 December). The women's Alpine Ski World Cup also comes to St Moritz from 18 to 20 December.
• Late January: the World Economic Forum in Davos (18 to 22 January), the Snow Polo World Cup (22 to 24 January) and The I.C.E. (29 and 30 January).
• February: the three White Turf weekends (6 to 21 February), the Cresta Run Grand National (13 February) and the close of the Cresta season (28 February).
• Mid-March: Engadin Skimarathon week, from 6 to 14 March, with the marathon on the 14th.

None of the official sources consulted quantifies demand for accommodation or air traffic in those weeks. What can be stated is where the events cluster, and that is what to keep in view when setting dates.

2. The 2026-27 calendar, event by event

The table summarises each event with its dates, its confirmation status as of 11 September 2026 and the source it comes from.

Dates checked on 11 September 2026 on the websites of the organisers and of the Engadin St. Moritz tourist office. Organisers may change them: please confirm them at the source before making any commitment.

December: openings and the World Cup

• Cresta Run: the track opens on 17 December 2026. The Curzon Cup is run on 9 and 10 January, the Top start opens on 11 January, the Morgan Cup is on 31 January, the Grand National on 13 February, and the season closes with the Payne Cup on 28 February 2027.
• Women's Alpine Ski World Cup: St Moritz hosts two super-G races, on 18 and 19 December 2026, and one giant slalom, on 20 December. The organising committee states that these dates are confirmed.
• Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz–Celerina: the season opens on 22 December 2026. Its 2026-27 race dates have not been published.

January: Davos, the polo and The I.C.E.

• World Economic Forum: the Davos destination website gives 18 to 22 January as the dates of the 2027 Annual Meeting. It does not take place in St Moritz, but it affects arrival: in 2026, Forum week brought airspace restrictions around Davos and made prior permission (PPR) mandatory for flights to Samedan. The 2027 restrictions have not yet been published.
• Snow Polo World Cup: the 42nd edition is played from Friday to Sunday, 22 to 24 January 2027, on the frozen lake. Its first day coincides with the last day of the Forum in Davos.
• The I.C.E.: the International Concours of Elegance takes place on 29 and 30 January 2027 on the frozen lake, subject to ice and weather conditions.

February and March: White Turf and the Skimarathon

• White Turf: horse racing on the frozen lake on Sundays 7, 14 and 21 February 2027, with Family Days on Saturdays 6, 13 and 20 February. That makes three consecutive weekends.
• Engadin Skimarathon: the 57th edition, over 42 km, takes place on 14 March 2027. The same week brings the Engadin Women's Race (7 March, 17 km), the Engadin Night Race (11 March, 17 km) and the Engadin Half Marathon (14 March, 21 km).
• St. Moritz Gourmet Festival: it is no longer a winter event. Since 2026 it has been held in summer, and its next edition runs from 24 to 29 August 2027.

3. How to plan a stay around an event

With the calendar in front of you, the order of decisions matters more than speed. This is the sequence to work from:

• First, the anchor event and how fragile it is: decide which date justifies the trip and whether it depends on the ice or the weather. The I.C.E. can be cancelled even at the last minute and Cresta Run races can move. If the trip rests on a single event on the lake, it is worth knowing that from the outset.
• Next, access: check on the organiser's website what each category includes and how it is obtained. The White Turf categories published today correspond to the 2026 edition and may change in 2027.
• Then, accommodation: it is booked directly with the property or through the channel of your choice. KAIROS does not promise availability of, or access to, hotels, chalets or restaurants in St Moritz.
• After that, the arrival time: in winter, Samedan operates from 08:00 until the end of evening civil twilight. The departure time from Madrid is worked out backwards from that limit, not forwards from the day's plans. If the date falls in Davos Forum week, the restrictions published for 2027 must also be taken into account.
• Finally, the return and the Madrid side: the return flight, the crew's overnight stay if the aircraft waits at the destination, the departure FBO at Barajas or Torrejon and the transfer to the airport. All of it is settled before departure.

4. Access to the events: official channels only

KAIROS does not sell or resell tickets or hospitality. Access to each event is obtained through its organiser's official channels, the same approach we take with any other event. This is what each organiser publishes about access:

• Snow Polo World Cup: the organiser offers VIP tickets, with their own marquee and grandstand; Chukker Club tickets, with a grandstand without allocated seating; general admission, which anyone over 16 needs; and a separate gala dinner that does not include the polo. On the Thursday, from 12:00 to 15:00, the practice matches are free to attend.
• The I.C.E.: day and weekend tickets, and tickets with access to the Drivers' Lounge. They are sold only through Ticketcorner or the organiser's office, and resale is prohibited.
• White Turf: 2027 tickets are sold through Ticketcorner. The organiser's ticket page lists standing areas, Grandstands A1, A2 and B, and two official hospitality options, White Turf Lounge and GAMMA Lounge, according to the details published for the 2026 edition.
• Cresta Run: the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club is a private club. A beginner over 18 can book a practice day in the club's calendar and becomes a temporary member for the season. Members have priority in races.
• Olympia Bob Run: guest bobsleigh rides can be booked from 1 July.
• Engadin Skimarathon: registration is online, through Datasport, and entry fees rise over time. For spectators, the organiser publishes course maps, start and finish plans and photo points, and the Marathon Village in Pontresina has activities throughout the week.
• FIS World Cup: tickets are available through the organising committee's official website, which offers standing places in the finish area, grandstand tickets and VIP packages.

5. The journey: what shapes arrival from Madrid

The reference airport is Samedan (Engadin Airport, LSZS), about 5 km from St Moritz. It sits at an elevation of 1,707 metres and is the highest airport in Europe, with a runway of 1,800 metres. Three facts shape winter planning:

• Daylight window: in winter it operates from 08:00 until the end of evening civil twilight. It is a short window, and the arrival time must be planned with a margin. Customs is available throughout operating hours.
• Qualified crew: every pilot must complete the airport's familiarisation briefing and test before the flight and carry the confirmation on board. The crew must therefore hold a current briefing, and that shapes the choice of operator.
• Davos Forum week: in 2026, prior permission (PPR) was mandatory for flights to Samedan and approach procedures were suspended, so arrival depended on being able to complete the flight visually. For 2027, nothing can be assumed until the official notice is published.

The alternatives involve larger airports and a stretch by road. According to the tourist office, Zurich is about 200 km and around three hours from the Engadine, and Milan about 170 km and also around three hours; in winter, the Julier and Maloja passes remain open, while the Albula and Flüela passes close. At Zurich, moreover, every IFR movement requires a prior slot and a night curfew applies. Switzerland is part of the Schengen area but not of the EU Customs Union, so goods remain subject to customs control.

6. What KAIROS does in this destination, and what it does not

It is worth stating this precisely, because in St Moritz our scope has clear limits.

• What we do: the private flight from Madrid to Samedan, or to whichever alternative suits, through our network of brokers and air operators in Europe; the Madrid side, with FBO at Barajas and Torrejon and an executive chauffeur to the airport; and coordination of the operation under mandate, with a single point of contact.
• What we do not do: we do not sell or resell tickets or hospitality, we do not promise access to hotels, chalets, restaurants, tables or boxes, and we do not operate on the ground in St Moritz.
• Providers in Switzerland: KAIROS does not currently have accredited providers in Switzerland. If an assignment needs one on the ground, that provider first goes through the operating network accreditation standard, and is not offered until it has met it.
